Alaska requires a statewide Food Worker Card for anyone working with unpackaged food, potentially hazardous food, or food-contact surfaces. Workers must obtain the card within 30 days of employment, and it is valid for 3 years. Renewal requires retaking the exam.

Exemptions include employees who handle only pre-packaged food, children under 18 assisting with school meals, certain volunteers, and institutional assistants who do not directly handle food.
